Odd Girl Out
I have just finished the novel Odd Girl Out by Michelle Simmons, coincidently a Vassar graduate (not because I went to school there, but because I live about 5 minutes from there). It was a really great novel that peeked into the lives of girls and their aggression. Bullying is common among females, especially friends, which peaks in Middle School. I recommend this to anyone who has a daughter or to all educators.

Since January...
Since January I did in fact finish the Girl with the Dragon Tatoo trilogy and loved it. Saw the American movie and thought it was ok. I also finished the Hunger Games trilogy, love it, also saw the movie and thought it was ok. I bought Dove dry shampoo at Walgreens and I never got to use it! It evaporated with the lid still on! Needless to say, I do NOT recommend this product! It is a complete waste of $5.99.

Stieg Larsson
I finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo last week, and thought it was absolutely brilliant! My one small issue was the last 100 pages that seemed unnecessary, but I guess for people obsesssed with tying up loose ends, it made its' point. I am very excited to see the movie. This week I finished The Girl Who Played with Fire . This was also good, and didn't have the unnecessary, therefore, it did not tie up loose ends. Turns out Mr. Larsson died in 2004, but alas, I have the third installment, The Girl who kicked The Hornet's Nest. I will be starting that right after I finish The Giver by Lois Lowry. I have no idea what I will do with myself once I finish the trilogy, I recall feeling the same way after finishing all of Wally Lamb's novels. I think that's why I broke it up and stuck another book in there. Also, it's research for high school students. I'll be trying some new products soon and will post. I'm looking to also buy a house, so decorating will certainly be a big part of the upcoming reports.

Sick?
Well, New Years Day I was stuck on the couch ill for about 6 hours...I read online that the common cold enters the body through the ears, and not having the luxury of sick days yet I am desperate. I dumped hydrogen peroxide in my ear canals, let it bubble, repeated then cleaned them out with water. I then drank two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar diluted in water and Voila I woke up 100% better!! Maybe it's all in my head, but who cares it worked!

That's what friends are for?
Could you all do me a huge favor and listen to the song "that's what friends are for" Yes a seemingly lovely little ballad about friendship that plagued graduations for decades until it was replaced by that awful vitamin C...anyway, the song goes on about friendships and being there for one another, the duet subtly indicates that men and women can be very much plutonic...But after this long sweet ode...suddenly a sarcastic "yeah" as in "yeah right". It makes the whole song seem like a joke! So is it that friendship is a joke or perhaps that men and women actually cannot be friends!? OR since it's the man who says it, is he just going along with the friendship but really wants more???? OH THE POSSIBILITIES

Doesn't take much to rip us into pieces-Tori Amos
Just felt an actual Earthquake in upstate New York....ccccrazy! I was sitting on my bed and it was quivering, looked over at my dog who was shaking and assumed it was him, but he was shaking because everything else was shaking!!!!

Love Notes
As an English Major I will now quote an overquoted writer of taste, "The longest absence is less perilous to love than the terrible trials of incessant proximity.-Edna St. Vincent Millay. Shocker. Well this quote got me thinking about relationships, something I've vowed to put less thought into now that I'm in my 30s and pretty much spent my 20s postulating the whys and hows. However, one truth remains in my many many years of dating and that is that my long distance relationships usually held more excitement. They did not have the burden of the everyday routine, and though, many people enjoy spending every waking minute together...I do not. Don't get me wrong I am in a very happy relationship right now with a boy in extremely close proximity...incessantly. It just seems that we've moved from the simple joy of seeing each other to the expectation and obligation phase rather quickly. As a writer and avid reader I enjoy dragging things out and testing them at every turn for their true potential. Perhaps, my significant other had one of those "she's the one" moments and does not feel the need to prolong our courtship...but it would have been nice.
So, I just finished reading "The English Major" by Jim Harrison and I have to say I enjoyed it immensely. It's only about 250 pages and it was a great vacation read. I love that he traveled something I love to do. I have always wanted to publish a travel log type of story. I was at Bethany Beach in Delaware and I highly suggest it to the eastcoasters. It's not quite as far as the Carolinas and it has the same atomosphere. Surrounding Bethany Beach is Rehoboth, Dewey and Ocean City, Maryland. I went to all of them and spend just 7 days and 6 nights in a lovly four-bedroom condo. My adivce: Stay away from the Buffets they are pricey and not very good. I believe the average was $33 per person. Also, after a brief rainstorm the waves are glorious! Onto the next place in the am...
